A slider is a small sandwich, typically around 3 in (7.6 cm) across, served in a bun. The term primarily refers to small hamburgers, but can also cover any small sandwich served on a slider roll. The term, when used in reference to a small hamburger, originated with the fast food chain White Castle, which trademarked the spelling variant "Slyder" and used it between 1993 and 2009.
How much fun are these cute little sandwiches? I like this idea of a small sandwich because I typically cannot eat a full burger or chicken sandwich. This is a great idea if you are in a restaurant and want to share a meal...the portions are already pre-portioned for you and a friend.
I saw on a friends blog, Cooking with Mel, that she had made sliders for her family too. I was thrilled with the idea that I could do this at home. You can find her recipe here. I set out to make these for my family and they were a huge hit.
I kept the recipe pretty basic and made homemade blue cheese dressing as the WOW factor with the sliders. We are all dippers in my family. Are you a dipper too? LOL
Buffalo Chicken Sliders
This recipe makes enough for 10-12 sliders, this of course, depends on the size of the bun you have and how much you add as a filling.
4 large chicken breast
1 T. olive oil
hot sauce ( I use Franks Red Hot Original sauce)
In a saucepan, add oil and cubed chicken breast. Cook until done. Add your hot sauce and turn heat off.
I like to have diced up celery and onion available to add to the sandwiches. My family also likes leaf lettuce.
You can buy your slider buns or make them. I have to use a gluten free version, so I always make my Flat Bread and this works great for this sandwich.
I serve this sandwich with a large dollop of blue cheese dressing. I have posted the recipe below.
Recipe: Blue Cheese Salad Dressing

salt and pepper to taste
4 oz. of blue cheese.
Mix all of the above ingredients together. Adjust salt and pepper according to taste. Refrigerate until ready to serve with sliders.
